2007: Appeared in 29 games, making one start… went 5-2 with three saves and a 5.40 ERA… pitched 41.2 innings, striking out 38... struck out three in three innings of work in NCAA Regional vs. Arizona State (6/2/07) and Nebraska (6/3/07)... made first career start at San Diego State (5/1/07), gaining win with four innings of work, striking out four... earned first career win in 0.2 innings of relief against San Diego State (3/13/07)... pitched two innings of relief to record win against UC Santa Barbara (4/7/07)... tossed 2.1 innings of one-hit relief, striking out three to earn win at #21 San Diego (4/10/07)... struck out two and gave up one hit in two innings for win at Cal State Northridge (5/10/07)... picked up save in three innings of work at #11 Long Beach State (5/18/07)... struck out three in 1.1 innings for save against Nevada (2/3/07)... had save in 0.2 innings against Santa Clara (3/16/07).

2006: Appeared in two games… went 0-0 with a 27.00 ERA… pitched 0.2 innings with one strikeout.

2005: Redshirted.

High School: Played for Coach Gary Remiker at University of San Diego High School… earned Most Improved Player award as a senior… posted a 6-1 record with 2.13 earned run average in 2004… also earned four letters in water polo.

Personal: Stephen Penney was born on August 14, 1986 in San Diego, CA… son of Dan and Jean Penney… majoring in statistics and quantitative management… roots for the San Diego Padres… favorite athletes are Lorenzo Neal and Jake Peavy… favorite novels are “Angels and Demons” and “The Great Gatsby”… enjoys watching Iron Chef and Rescue Me… favorite movies are “Tommy Boy”, “Snatch” and “Fight Club”… enjoys listening to Thrice… calls his parents his biggest influence.
