Women Ranked 6th, Men 11th in Western Region Poll

(Oct. 2, 2007) - The third polls of the 2007 Division I Men's and Women's Cross Country Regional Rankings were released Tuesday, and UC Riverside continues to be featured prominently on both lists.

The Highlander men remain at No. 11 in the region for the second consecutive poll. They are the third-highest ranked Big West school, behind No. 5 Cal Poly and No. 10 UCSB. They opened the season at No. 12.

The women fell one notch to sixth. They opened the season in sixth, then improved to fifth on Sept. 24, then fell back to sixth despite dominating their home meet on Sept. 29, in which they posted a solid first-place finish. The Highlanders are the second ranked team among Big West schools, right behind No. 5 UC Santa Barbara.

The regional and national polls will come out every two weeks, with the next set slated for October 16th.
