(Feb. 11, 2008) –
The UC Riverside Men's golf team posted a first round team
total of 287 to finish in a tie for third after the first
day of the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite in St. George, UT
Monday afternoon. Sophomore Andrew Cortez fired a first round
2-under par 70 to finish in a tie for eighth.
UCR trails only Lousiana-Monroe
(278, -10) and Kentucky (282, -6) after their first round
scores. Redshirt freshman Andrew Patipaksiri shot a one-under
71, freshman Nick Paez and senior Spencer Paschall each put
a one-over 73 in their first rounds.
Nathan McMullen from Lousiana-Monroe
leads all players after a first round seven-under-par 65.
The second and final round
will be played on Tuesday.
