Men's Golf Closes
Out Fall Season in Hawaii
(Nov. 5, 2008) – The UC Riverside men's golf team finished
out the fall season at the Kauai Collegiate Invite in Lihue,
HI firing a three-round 887 team score to finish 13th out
of a 14-team field. Scott Clayton (San Bernardino, CA) tied
for 15th individually shooting a four-under-par 212 to lead
the Highlanders.

19th At Sycuan Collegiate Invitational
(Oct. 21, 2008) – UC Riverside's men's golf team suffered
through another bought of inconsistency at the Sycuan Collegiate
Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Willow Glen Golf Club
in El Cajon, CA finishing 19th out of 20 teams. Scott Clayton
(San Bernardino, CA) paced the Highlanders shooting a 71-75-73=219
on the day.
Difficult Second Round Dooms Highlanders
(Oct. 17, 2008) – UC Riverside's men's golf team returned
to the links following a two-plus week break at the Del Walker
Invitiational hosted by Long Beach State at the Virginia Country
Club. Following Thursday's first round the Highlanders found
themselves in 13th place out of 15 teams with a 13-over-par
297. Any hopes of moving up in the standings throughout the
remainder of the invitational, however, were dashed in the
second round as UCR shot a 319 - 19 strokes higher than any
other team on the day.
Men's Golf Loses
Momentum, Finishes 14th At St. Mary's Invitational
(Sept. 30, 2008) – Less than 24 hours after shooting
the best team round of the day at the St. Mary's Invitational
and vaulting into 7th place from 15th, the UC Riverside Men's
Golf Team collectively faltered dropping into a 14th place
finish. Scott Clayton led Monday afternoon's charge firing
a tournament-low 65 in the second round and trailed the tournament
leader and eventual winner, Domingo Jojola (San Francisco),
by just three strokes. However, the San Bernardino junior
posted a third-round 78 falling back to 23rd overall.
Men's Golf Jumps From 15th To 7th At St. Mary's Invitational
(Sept. 29, 2008) – The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team's
struggled in the opening round of the Saint Mary's Invitational
finding itself tied for 15th after the first 18. However in
the second round, the Highlanders exploded for a tournament-low
277 vaulting themselves into a tie for seventh, nine shots
off the pace, with 18 holes remaining to be played on Tuesday.
Scott Clayton (San Bernardino, CA) led the charge firing a
tournament-low 65 in the second round. He now trails the tournament
leader, Domingo Jojola (San Francisco) by three strokes.

Finishes 14th At Ron Moore Invitational In Denver
(Sept. 16, 2008) – The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team's
fall schedule got underway this week at the Ron Moore Invitational
in Denver, Colorado where they finished 14th in the 17-team
tournament. Junior Scott Clayton (San Bernardino, CA) led the Highlanders
with a 36th place finish behind scores of 71, 77 and 73 -
good enough for five over par on the tournament.

Tied For 14th At Ron Moore Invitational
(Sept. 15, 2008) – The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team's
fall schedule got underway on Monday at the Ron Moore Invitational
in Denver, Colorado. The Highlanders finished the first day
of the two-day event tied for 14th in the 17-team tournament.
Junior Scott Clayton (San Bernardino, CA) currently paces
UCR's five-man lineup with rounds of 71 and 77 (148), good
enough to tie him for 38th place overall.
UCR Finishes Sixth At Big West Championship
(Apr. 22, 2008) – The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team finished
in sixth place at the Big West Men's Conference Championship,
Tuesday, 39 strokes off the pace set by Conference Champs
UC Irvine. Senior Spencer Paschall and freshman Andrew Patipaksiril
finished in a tie for 14th place 15 shots back of the leader.
Freshman Nick Paez was named honorable mention all-conference
for his efforts throughout the year.

Sixth At Big West Championship
(Apr. 21, 2008) – The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team is
in sixth place following the first day of competition at the
Big West Men's Conference Championship, seven strokes out
of third. Senior Spencer Paschall is tied for 12th in the
race for individual honors, just four strokes out of third
place and eight shots off the pace. Sophomore Scott Clayton
is tied for 15th one stroke back of Paschall.

finished in 13th at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic held at the
Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ.

shot back-to-back rounds of 69 in the first day of the Wyoming
Cowboy Classic at the Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale,
AZ Monday.

(Apr. 1, 2008) – The UC Riverisde
Men’s Golf team wrapped play at the OGIO Pacific Coast
Intercollegiate Invitation hosted by the Rancho San Marcos
Golf Club in Santa Barbara, CA Tuesday afternoon.
UCR Finishes Play at Cal Poly Men's Intercollegiate
(Mar. 28, 2008) – UC Riverside
placed 10th at the Cal Poly's Men Intercollegiate that concluded
Friday afternoon in San Luis Obispo. Freshman Nick Paez led
the Highlanders with scores of 81,74, and 74 to place in a
tie for 29th.

(Mar. 27, 2008) – After the
first two rounds of the Cal Poly's Men Intercollegiate in
San Luis Obispo, UC Riverside is in 10th place in the standings.
Paschall and Paez Finish As Co-Champions at Braveheart Classic
(Mar. 4, 2008) – Senior Spencer
Paschall and freshman Nick Paez finished as co-champions of
the Braveheart Classic at the Oak Valley Golf Clunb in Beaumont,
CA Tuesday afternoon. Paschall fired a final-round 70 (-2)
to catch Paez who finished with a third-round 79 (+7) who
led the Highlanders to a second place finish.

(Mar. 3, 2008) – UC Riverside
posted a 309 to finish in second, only two shots back of leader
TCU (307) in the first round of the Braveheat Classic at Oak
Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, CA Monday afternoon. Highlander
freshman Nick Paez leads all players after his opening round
of three-under-par 69.

finished sixth in the Anteater Invitational at Santa Ana Country
Club in Santa Ana, CA Tuesday afternoon.
Cortez Finishes Fourth For Highlanders at Thunderbird Invite
(Feb. 12, 2008) – UC Riverside
finished seventh with a final total score of 577 (+1) while
competing at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite in St. George,
UT Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Andrew Cortez posted a second
round score of 69 (-3) to finish in a tie for fourth.

finish in a tie for third after the first day of the Pat Hicks

Former Highlander Brandan Steele Closing in On PGA Tour Card
(Nov. 27, 2007) – Former UCR
golfer Brandan Steele continues to move towards his goal of
becoming a member of the PGA tour as he has advanced to the
final stage of this years PGA Qualifying school.

(Nov. 7, 2007) – The UC Riverside
Men's golf team placed 14th in Turtle Bay Intercollegiate
tournament after posting a 272 Wednesday afternoon at the
Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuka, Hawaii.

(Oct. 23, 2007) – Highlander
freshman Nick Paez shot a 217, one-over par at the Sycuan
Collegiate Invitational at Willow Glen Course in El Cajon,
Calif., two shots behind the individual medalist, Ryan Spears
of Whichita State.

Complete Shoot-Out at Angel Park
(Oct. 1, 2007) – UC Riverside’s
men’s golf team (296-309-287-892) finished in 14th at
the Shoot-Out at Angel Park in Las Vegas hosted by the University
of Hawaii. Sophomore Andrew Cortez shot even par for the tournament
and finished tied for seventh to lead UCR.

Highlanders are in 14th place after two rounds of the Shootout
at Angel Park in Las Vegas. UCR shot a two-round total of
607 on the par-71 course.
