Rain Brings UCR Back Early From San Diego Tournament

(February 24, 2008) - UC Riveriside's final two games at the San Diego Tournamnet were cancelled after a series of rain showers throughout the weekend forced the cancellation of the final day. The Highlanders were able to get two games in on the weekend, they dropped a 11-0 decision to Colorado State on Friday, and a lost 12-1 to Marshall on Saturday.

UCR (2-9) got hits from junior Katie Curtis and sophomore Marrissa Alvidrez in the game against Colorado State. On Saturday, Curtis picked up an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1 in the first as the two teams played a pretty clean game for the next four innings. Marshall then took advantage of three UCR errors in the fifth inning to put 11 runs in the inning and pick up the victory.

The Highlanders return home to face Easteran Washington for two games on Tuesday and Hawaii for two games on Wednesday.
