Pacific scored single runs in each of the first three innings
and added two more in the fourth. That was more than enough
support for senior Jennifer Dacre, who improved to 14-11 in
the circle for the Tigers with a three-hit shutout effort.
Dacre tied her season high with seven strikeouts, while issuing
just one walk.
Freshman Jennifer Curtier put the Tigers on the board in the
bottom of the first as her one-out double drove home junior
Michelle Anunciation with the first run of the game. The RBI
was Curtier's team-leading 39th of the season.
Sophomore Crystal Presson hit her third home run of the season,
a solo shot, with one out in the second to put Pacific up
2-0. The Tigers pushed their cushion to 3-0 in the third as
freshman Lizzie Hagen evaded a run-down while attempting to
score from third on a fly out.
Hagen did some damage with the bat as well, driving in a pair
of runs with a fourth inning double. Hagen was a perfect 3-for-3
at the plate in the game with the double, one run scored,
and two RBI.
Three UC Riverside players recorded one hit a piece. Sara
Radabaugh took the loss in the circle for the Highlanders,
falling to 2-9 on the season.
(June 11, 2004) -Sophomore
third basemen Melissa Sanchez was named to the Easton third
team All-American softball team Thursday announced Head Coach
Connie Miner.
Sanchez finished the 2004
softball season with a team leading batting average of .369,
59 hits, 12 doubles, one triple, seven home runs and 34 RBI.
Sanchez set the career record in home runs hit (11) with her
solo homerun in the 3-1 loss to Cal State Fullerton on May
1, 2004. She also became the first Highlander to be named
first team All-Big West.
“She honors our program
and our university with her play on and off the field,”
Miner said. “I am glad to see her hard work get rewarded.”
