UCR Competes at All-Cal Challenge Cup In Irvine

(March 1, 2008) - UC Riverside had several athletes produce Big West Conference qualifying marks while competing at All Cal Cup on the campus of UC Irvine Saturday afternoon.

Junior Uchechi Egeonuigwe ran the 800m in 2:14.57 to qualify for the Big West championships later this season. Egeonuigwe and freshman Malia Billups also qualified for the Big West championships in the 100m hurdles with marks of 15.20 and 15.01, respectively.

In other women's events, sophomore Lauren Reid qualified for the Big West championships in the long jump (18' 7.5") and in the triple jump (38' 11"). Sophomore Jacqulyn Lewis also qualified for the BWC in the long jump (19' 4") and sophomore Allison Wilder qualified for the BWC in triple jump (38' 11"). Senior Melissa Genisauski qualified in both the discuss throw (142' 05") and in the hammer throw (162').

The men had sophomore Marselis Irving (47') and senior Staton Gibson (48') both qualify for the BWC in the triple jump. Sophomore Andrew Jacobson won the 200m dash in 22.44 and sophomore Marcus Maberry finished second at 22.63.
