(March 8, 2008) - Junior
Uchechi Egeonuigwe and sophomore Brenda Martinez each qualified
for NCAA Regional's and set new UCR track records while competing
in the Ben Brown invitational in Fullerton this past weekend.
Egeonuigwe ran the 400m
hurdles in 60.12 to set a new Highlander track record and
Martinez ran won the 5000m race in 16:27.51 to also set a
new school record.
Senior Melissa Genisauki
won both the Hammer (169' 9") and Discus (148' 9")
competitions to set personal bests and also qualify for the
Big West Championships.
Senior David Rosenblatt
placed third in both the Hammer (167' 9") and the Discus
(153' 10") to also qualify for the BWC later this spring.
Numerous other Highlanders
qualified for the BWC and will continue to improve on the
those marks until heading to Northridge, CA on May 16-17 for
Big West Championships.
