RCC
Hires UCR Assistant Monica Trainer As Head Volleyball Coach
(April 28, 2008) – RCC Athletics Director Barry Meier
announced today that he has hired Monica Trainer as the Tigers'
volleyball coach. Trainer has been an assistant coach at UC
Riverside since 1985.
"Monica has been an integral part of the UC Riverside Volleyball
program for 24 years," said UCR Head Volleyball Coach Sue
Gozansky, "and a great deal of our success over that time
is due to her experience, her dedication and her ability to
communicate with student athletes.
"We're very fortunate at UCR to have had Monica remain
with us for as long as she did. As talented as she is, she
could have been coaching anywhere at the Division I level,
but her loyalty to me, our program and our University is unmatched.
We're very sad to see Monica go, but this is a great opportunity
for her and we wish her much success. Even though Monica will
be leading the RCC Tigers, she will always be a Highlander."
