2006: Played in 87 games... appeared in 27 matches, starting 26... averaged 1.54 kills and 1.67 digs per game... hit .089 with 134 kills and 94 errors in 447 attempts... had 145 digs and 53 blocks, including three solo blocks and 50 assisted blocks... had 173 points, an average of 1.99 points per game... had a career-high tying 10 kills and 10 digs, hitting .348 (10-2-23) at UC Irvine (11/11/06)... had eight kills and six blocks against CS Northridge (10/14/06)... had eight kills, five blocks and hit a career-high .375 (8-2-16) vs. San Francisco (9/9/06).
2005: Played in 19 games for the Highlanders... appeared in 12 matches, starting one... averaged 0.95 kills and 1.26 digs per game... hit .068 with 18 kills, 14 errors in 59 attempts... had 10 kills, two aces, 14 digs and two block assists against St. Francis College (9/9/05)... had four kills and three block assists and eight digs against UCSB (10/8/05).
High School: Was a four-year letterwinner for Coach Michelle Miller at Clovis West HS in Fresno... the team was 37-9 in league play in her four years, reaching the CIF semi-finals three times and the quarter-finals once... in 2004 was named Tri-River Athletic Conference All-League, Fresno Bee Second Team All-Valley and team Co-MVP... earned all-tournament honors at Clovis Invitational and Archbishop Mitty tournament... earned Tri-City Athletic Conference honors in 2003... 2005 Clovis West Female Athlete of the Year... named to the Principal’s honor roll in each of her four years... had extensive volunteer and community service.
Personal: Amy Nicole Read is the daughter of Tom Read and Brenda McBride... majoring in English... hopes to become a teacher... roots for the New England Patriots... favorite athletes are Babe Zaharias and Lindsey Davenport... favorite writer is James Patterson... favorite novels are “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “A Diary for Nicholas”... favorite foods are ice cream, raspberries, pizza and pasta... favorite television shows include Friends, Cold Case, Reno 911 and Saved by the Bell... favorite films include “Sixteen Candles”, “My Fair Lady”, “Sleeping Beauty”, and “Rear Window”... enjoys listening to the Beach Boys... hobbies include babysitting, watching movies, playing tennis and waterskiing... family has an extensive athletics background, as her father played basketball at Orange Coast College and Whittier College, then went on to play volleyball for the US National Team from 1972 to 1976 and professionally for the El Paso Sol from 1976 to 1980... he also was the head coach at Chapman University from 1985 to 1988 and coached a professional volleyball team in Milan, Italy in 1989-90 with ex-Olympic coach Doug Beal... mother played volleyball at Chapman from 1984-85.
