(June 25,
2007) - Jennifer Bermingham of UC Riverside shot a two-round
147 last Thursday and Friday to win the 2007 Long Beach Women's
City Championship, held at El Dorado Park and Recreation Park
in Long Beach. Teammate Allison Ek also competed, placing
15th in the championship flight while incoming freshman Natalie
Guidry finished in a tie for 18th in the same flight.
Bermingham
(Long Beach, CA/Millikan HS), who just completed her sophomore
season at UCR, shot a 74 on Thursday to sit in second place,
three strokes behind Victoria Fallgren. Bermingham made her
charge on Friday, tying for the day's lowest score, 73, to
post a two-stroke victory over Patty Chawalitmetha. Bermingham
has three tournament victories at the collegiate level, was
the Big West Conference Freshman of the Year in 2006, and
was a First Team All-Big West selection in 2007.
Also coming off her sophomore
campaign, Ek (Cypress, CA/St. Joseph HS) shot 80-79 for a
two-round 159 to place 15th of the 43 competitors in the championship
flight. She was two strokes ahead of Guidry (Temecula, CA/Great
Oak HS), who carded an 82-79.
