(September 16, 2003) - Senior
Kim Feliciano shot a 21-over 237, good for 30th place as the
Highlanders finished 14th in a 16 team field at the Oregon
State Invitational at the Woodlands in Sun River, Oregon.
The Highlanders opened the
second day of play in 14th place, but moved up to 12th after
the first of two rounds Tuesday with a team tournament best
316, led by an oustanding 73 by junior Le-Ahn Nguyen, but
slipped back to 14th with a third round total of 328.
Sophomore Lindsay Snowden
opened the day in 11th place, but shot an 81 and 82 to slip
to 36th at 239, tied with Nguyen.
UNLV won the team competition
with a three round total of 905. TCU's Brooke Tull won the
individual play with a three-over 219.

(September 29, 2003) - The
UC Riverside Highlanders women's golf team struggled over
the final two rounds of the Lady Vandal Fall Invitational
at the University of Idaho in Moscow Monday, wrapping up the
tournament in 10th place with a three round total of 965.
The Highlanders were in
third after the first round with a 312, but faltered with
a 325 in round two and a 328 in round three.
Junior Le-Anh Nguyen shot
a team-low 238, 22 over par, to lead UCR. Cathleen O'Neill
and Kimberly Feliciano finished tied for 38th place at 241,
and Lindsay Snowden was 52nd at 245.
Oregon won the tournament,
turning in a three round total of 918. The Ducks' Erin Andrews
won the tournament, finishing with a three round total of
219, three over par.

(October 21. 2003) –
Junior Le-Ahn Nguyen and sophomore Lindsay Snowden led the
Highlanders with three-round totals of 236 good for a tie
for 40th place at the Lady Aztec Fall Invitational.
After finishing the first
day with scores of 314 in the morning round and 324 in the
afternoon, the Highlanders finished the third round with a
308. Their 82-over par, 946 finish was 68 strokes of the top
finisher and host San Diego State.
Le-Ahn Nguyen and Snowden
were followed by junior Courtney O'Neil at 237, sophomore
Cathleen O'Neill at 238 and senior Le-Quyen Nguyen at 244.
Junior Sarah Walmsley, competing as an individual, rounded
out the team at 255.
The team will be back in
action on Nov. 3 and 4 when they participate in the Cal Poly
Fall Invitational at Blacklake Resort in Nipomo, CA.

(Nov. 4, 2003) – The
Highlanders almost caught leader Cal Poly in the second round,
coming from behind nine shots at 325 to Cal Poly's 234, but
finished the day three back at 651; Cal Poly won the event
with a 648.
The Highlanders' highest
finisher was junior Le-Anh Nguyen who carded a two-round total
of 159 good for a tie for fourth. Nguyen was followed by sophomore
Cathleen O'Neill in a tie for sixth with rounds of 84-78.
In a tie for eighth was sophomore Lindsay Snowden at 79-84.
Junior Courtney O'Neill finished tied for 15th at 85-82, and
senior Le-Quyen Nguyen rounded out the Highlander squad with
rounds of 87-84 good for a tie for 24th.
Competing as an individual
for the Highlanders was sophomore Jessica Smith, who finished
in a tie for 41st with rounds of 90-95.
Freshman Kyle Safford of
Cal State San Marcos won the event with a 12-over two-round
score of 156.
(Feb. 17, 2004) –
UC Riverside Assistant Golf Coach Kathleen Takaishi has announced
her resignation to accept an assistant coaching position at
Oregon State University, her alma mater.
“We are sorry to see
Kathleen leave UCR, but this is an outstanding opportunity
for her,” Head Coach Paul Hjulberg said. “She
will be missed.”
Takaishi joined the Highlanders
women’s golf staff as an assistant coach in the summer
of 2002. She played on various LPGA tours over the last three
years, including the Futures Tour. While at Oregon State University
she received All Pac-10 Honorable Mention in 1999. Takaishi
qualified for the nationals as an individual in 1999. She
also shot an Oregon State school three-round record of 213.
Takaishi won back-to-back Oregon Amateur Championships in
1997 and 98. In 1998 she was named to the All Pac-10 2nd team
and received an All-American Honorable mention.
(Feb. 18, 2004) –
Jennifer Dolph has been hired as UC Riverside assistant golf
coach, Head Coach Paul Hjulberg announced Wednesday.
Dolph replaces Kathleen
Takaishi, who was hired Tuesday as the assistant coach at
Oregon State, her alma mater. Dolph will assist Hjulberg with
both the men’s and women’s teams.
Dolph is a 2003 graduate
of Eastern Washington University, where she received her degree
in recreation management with a minor in business. Dolph earned
Big Sky All-Conference and Academic-All-Conference honors
in 2003, a season highlighted by her second place finish at
the Santa Clara Invitational and fifth place finish at the
conference championships.
A 1999 graduate of Pullman
High School in Pullman, WA, Dolph was the Washington Junior
Golf Association District Champ in 1997.
Dolph is also assistant
golf pro at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont.
(Mar. 5, 2004) – Sophomore
Lindsay Snowden is in a two-way tie for first place with a
1-under par 71 helping to put the UC Riverside women’s
golf team in third place through one round at the Sixth Annual
Springlake Classic hosted by Northern Illinois at the Springlake
County Club.
Snowden’s 71 is the first under-par round of golf in
the three-year history of the sport at UC Riverside. The Highlanders
combined for a 17-over 305, six strokes behind first place
Xavier and Florida Gulf Coast.
Two other Highlanders shot under 80 in the round with junior
Le-Ahn Nguyen tied her career-low with a 2-over par 74, putting
her in a tie for fourth place overall. Junior Courtney O’Neill
shot a 4-over 76 putting her in a tie for 14th.
Junior Sarah Walmsley and sophomore Cathleen O’Neill
rounded out the field. Walmsley shot 84 and O’Neill
shot an 86.
The final round of 18 holes will be played on Saturday, March
6.
(Mar.
6, 2004) - Sophomore Lindsay Snowden a 1-over par 145 over
two rounds to win the Sixth Annual Springlake Classic hosted
by Northern Illinois. The Highlanders finished third.
Snowden shot a 2-over 74
in the second round after shooting a 1-under 71 on Friday,
finishing one stroke ahead of the closest competitor to seal
the win.
As a team, UCR combined
for a 20-over 308 on the second day, finishing with a two-day
total of 613, 12 strokes behind the leader Xavier.
Le-Ahn Nguyen finished seventh
overall with a two-round total of 150. Courtney O'Neill finished
in a tie for 18th shooting 157 in the event. UCR's most-improved
round on Saturday was shot by Cathleen O'Neill who improves
nine strokes from an 86 on Friday to a 77 on Saturday. Sarah
Walmsley rounded out the field with a pair of 84's to finish
tied for 41st.
(Mar.
9, 2004) - UC Riverside sophomore Lindsay Snowden won her
second tournament in four days Tuesday, winning a four-way
playoff to take first at the Bobcat Desert Classic at Palm
Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, AZ. The Highlanders, who had
just four players in the tournament due to academic commitments,
finished tied for 10th at 628. Western Michigan won the tournament
in a playoff over Boise State University.
On
Sunday, Snowden shot a 1-over par 145 over two rounds to win
the Sixth Annual Springlake Classic in Florida, hosted by
Northern Illinois. The Highlanders finished third.
Snowden shot a second round
75 following a low round of 71 on Monday to card her 146.
Courtney O'Neill finished in a tie for fifth at 147, shooting
a 74 on day 2. Le-Ahn Nguyen shot a team-low 72 in the second
round to finish in a tie for 15th at 150. Sarah Walmsley rounded
out the foursome with a two round total of 185.
(Mar.
22, 2004) - The UC Riverside women's golf team is 10th overall
after the first day of the Colby Invitational hosted by Santa
Clara at Rancho Canada in Carmel Valley, Calif.
The Highlanders first day
score of 310 is 10 strokes behind tournament leader Oregon.
Cathleen O'Neill is five
strokes behind the leader with a 75. Idaho's Ayumi Hori leads
the field shooting a 70 in round one.
Oregon holds the team lead
following its 16-over par performance of 300. Idaho is in
second, just four strokes back, followed by Eastern Washington
and Gonzaga, who are both at 306.
Tuesday's second and final
round will begin tomorrow morning on the West Course, a par-72,
5,937-yard track. Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m.

ROUND RESULTS
(Mar.
23, 2004) - The UC Riverside Women’s Golf team has added
a dual match against Oregon State University on Thursday,
March 25th at 1:00 PM the Oak Valley Golf Club.
“We
were fortunate to be able to add this match for our women’s
team,” Head Coach Paul Hjulberg said. “It is nice
to get one more match in during spring break.”
(Mar.
23, 2004) - For the second time in as many tournaments, Lindsay
Snowden forced a playoff but lost on the sixth extra hole
to finish in second after firing a 71 in the second round
of the Colby invitational hosted by Santa Clara Tuesday.
The
UC Riverside women's golf team finishes seventh overall. In
the team's last contest at the Bobcat Classic, Snowden forced
four playoff holes and won the tournament.
Snowden tied Michelle Timpani of Oregon with a two-day total
of 146 following a final round 71 and forced the sudden-winner
playoff. Timpani would up the eventual individual winner helping
give Oregon the team victory with a two-day total of 303.
The
Highlanders improved three places to finish seventh, 14 strokes
behind the winner.
Cathleen
O'Neill shot two rounds of 74 to finish in a tie for fourth
with a 148. Courtney O'Neill shot a 157 (79-78) to finish
tied for 37th. Le-Anh Nguyen finished with a 166 (82-84) in
64th and Le-Quyen Nguyen had a 169 (83-86) to round out UCR's
field.
The
Highlanders will play a dual match against Oregon State on
Thursday at Oak Valley Golf Club.
(Apr.
2, 2004) - UC Riverside sophomore Lindsay Snowden (Modesto,
Calif.) was named Big West Female Golf Athlete of the Month
for March. Snowden was perfect through last month, finishing
in first place in three tournaments: NIU Springlake Classic,
the Bobcat Classic and the Santa Clara Colby Invitational.
She shot a round of 71 in each of the three tournaments and
averaged 72.8 in six rounds of competition.

9, 2004) - The UC Riverside women's golf team is sixth after
two rounds of the Big West Championships at the Tijeras Creek
Golf Club in Rancho Margarita on Monday.
UCR shot a two-round total of 359, 45 strokes behind leader
Cal State Northridge. The Highlanders Lindsay Snowden is 17th
with a total of 162, after firing rounds of 80 and 82. Courtney
O'Neill is in 18th with a total of 163 with rounds of 85 and
78.
Cal State Northridge held off UC Irvine in the second round.
The Matador women hold a four-stroke advantage over the Anteaters
heading into the final round. CSUN senior Beth Allen increased
her individual lead to 10 strokes and is looking to repeat
as Big West champ. Allen's first round score of 67 was a course
record by a woman at Tijeras Creek Golf Club. UCI sophomore
Angela Won is in second place with a 149 score.
The third and final round concludes on Tuesday.
(April 22, 2003) -
EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. - The UC Riverside Highlanders women's
golf team finished sixth, 53 shots behind first-place CS Northridge
at the Big West Women's Golf Tournament at Serrano Country
Club in El Dorado Hills Tuesday. The Matadors won the rain-shortened
tournament with a two-round total of 617, four shots ahead
of Idaho, UCR posted a 680 for the tournament.
Elizabeth
Allen of Northridge won the tournament with a two-under 142.
Freshman Lindsay Snowden was the top UCR finisher, posting
a two-round total of 163 good for 12th place. Courtney O'Neill
improved 10 shots from her opening round to post a two day
total of 166, good for 16th.

(April 23, 2003) -
Senior Kim Feliciano and freshman Lindsay Snowden were named
second team All-Big West Wednesday.
Snowden led the team with
an average of 79.67 this season, while Feliciano was second
at 79.95. Feliciano posted the team's first ever individual
win by taking the Fidelity National Title Tournament in Arroyo
Grande on April 14-15.
(Apr.
20, 2004) - The UC Riverside women’s golf team finished
sixth at the 2004 Big West Championship held at the Tijeras
Creek Golf Club in Rancho Margarita, CA, Monday and Tuesday.
Sophomore Lindsay Snowden earned First Team All-Big West and
junior Le-Ahn Nguyen also earned Second Team All-Big West
honors announced today at the conclusion of the tournament.
The Highlanders posted a three-round total 986, 61 strokes
behind winner Cal State Northridge. The Matadors equaled UC
Irvine's score of 311 in the final round to preserve its four-stroke
lead and capture its second straight Big West Championship.
Matador senior Beth Allen continued her superb play and repeated
as individual champion with a commanding 15-stroke victory.
