Women's Soccer Schedule Features
Five 2007 NCAA Tournament Foes

Rising senior Tessa Lennala was named 2007 Big West Offensive Player of the Year after leading the conference in goals scored (8).

(June. 24, 2008) – UC Riverside Head Women's Soccer Coach Veronica O'Brien announced today that the Highlanders 2008 schedule will feature five matches against 2007 NCAA Tournament participants in addition to a full slate of Big West Conference games. The team also hosts its first-ever night match on Friday, September 5 against 2007 Big Sky champion Sacramento State.

The season begins on the road at Southern Utah on Friday, August 22, with the team's home opener coming two days later on Sunday, August 24 against Cal State Bakersfield. The Highlanders slate of matches against 2007 NCAA Tournament participants begins on Sunday, August 31 at Creighton (Missouri Valley Conference champion) followed by the first home night against Sacramento State. UCR travels to San Diego (West Coast Conference) on Friday, September 26 before hosting UNLV (Mountain West Conference champion) on Sunday, September 28

The Highlanders' Big West season gets underway with a home match on Friday, October 3 vs. UC Santa Barbara, with an October 26 road match scheduled against 2007 Big West champion Cal State Fullerton.

The schedule also features a home match against Pac-10 foe Oregon (Sept. 12 at 5 p.m.) and road matches against Big 12 opponents Nebraska (Aug. 29 at 3:30 p.m.) and San Diego (Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.)

The top four teams in the Big West advance to conference tournament slated for November 7 and 9. Sites and times for the tournament are determined based on final 2008 standings.

UC Riverside will be led once again this season by senior forward Tessa Lennala who was named Big West Offensive Player of the Year in 2007 after leading the conference in goals scored (8) and tying for second in points (18). She led the Highlanders with 30 shots-on-goal and kicked two game winners as UCR finished the year 8-9-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the Big West.
